Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fire & Safety Officer to oversee and ensure the safety of all personnel, contractors, and visitors across all Hail site locations and accommodation facilities. This critical role is responsible for identifying and reporting any unsafe conditions, defective equipment, or hazardous practices to management, with the immediate implementation of corrective actions to mitigate risks associated with fire, smoke, and water damage. The ideal candidate will safeguard Almarai’s invaluable resources, including personnel, buildings, plant and equipment, products and raw materials, as well as information systems—both physical and digital.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Oversight: Monitor and ensure compliance with fire and safety regulations across all Hail site locations, including accommodation facilities, to protect personnel, assets, and operational continuity.
- Risk Identification & Mitigation: Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential fire hazards, unsafe practices, or defective equipment, and promptly report findings to management for immediate corrective action.
- Fire Prevention & Management: Develop, implement, and maintain fire prevention strategies, including the proper use and maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems to minimize risks.
- Emergency Response Coordination: Lead and supervise emergency response efforts, including conducting fire drills, coordinating evacuation procedures, and ensuring all personnel are trained in fire safety protocols.
- Incident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate fire-related incidents, accidents, or near-misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence. Prepare detailed incident reports for management review.
- Training & Awareness: Organize and conduct fire prevention training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors to enhance safety awareness and ensure adherence to fire safety standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire detection and suppression equipment to ensure operational readiness at all times.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with local and international fire safety regulations, industry standards, and Almarai’s internal policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Documentation & Records Management: Maintain accurate records of fire safety inspections, training sessions, equipment maintenance, and incident reports in compliance with ISO 9001:2008 standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with facility managers, health and safety teams, and external authorities to align fire safety initiatives with broader organizational goals and regulatory obligations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Fire Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or Environmental Science.
- Certified as a member of the International Occupational Safety and Health Specialists (IOSHE) and a Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2008.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a multicultural workforce environment, with hands-on expertise in operating and maintaining fire detection and suppression equipment.
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience in fire management, including prior roles as a trained firefighter with either a civil fire brigade or a large multinational company’s fire team.
- Strong knowledge of fire risk assessment, risk management, and emergency response planning.
- Proven supervisory experience with the ability to plan, delegate, and oversee tasks for subordinates effectively.
- Proficiency in incident and accident reporting, fire drill coordination, and fire prevention training delivery.
- Familiarity with computer systems and SAP environment for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English and Arabic.
