Position Overview
As a Field Service Engineer I, you will serve as a technical expert and consultant, providing on-site support to install, troubleshoot, engineer, operate, configure, and optimize CCC products and systems at customer locations. Your role will also involve instructing customers on the proper and effective use of these products, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance within their operations. This position demands a high level of technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and the ability to deliver exceptional service in diverse industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
The Field Service Engineer I is responsible for a wide range of technical and operational duties, including:
- Pre-commissioning Activities: Conducting system checkout, instrumentation calibration, loop checks, and communication testing with independent judgment and expertise to ensure systems are ready for deployment.
- Testing and Tuning: Performing machinery testing, control loop tuning, and troubleshooting within the broader customer process to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
- Advanced Mathematical Applications: Utilizing advanced mathematical concepts and operations to complete projects and tasks effectively, including thermodynamic calculations and performance analysis of machinery.
- Remote Technical Support: Providing remote troubleshooting, systems engineering support, and solutions to address customer challenges promptly and efficiently.
- Knowledge Transfer: Delivering training sessions to customer operating and engineering staff to ensure they are proficient in product usage and maintenance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with internal departments to support the entire lifecycle of products and enhance the overall customer experience.
- Administrative and Aftermarket Support: Completing required administrative tasks, such as expense reporting and documentation, while providing ongoing aftermarket support to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Adaptability and Safety: Responding to changes productively, handling additional duties as required, and adhering to all company safety policies and procedures to maintain a secure work environment.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
- Experience: Internship, co-op, or 1-3 years of relevant work experience with turbo machinery control systems, such as compressors, steam/gas turbines, expanders, and generators, is preferred. Process control experience is also a valuable asset.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in computers and networking, with programming skills considered a plus. A solid understanding of thermodynamics concepts, gained through formal education, is essential.
- Training and Safety: Basic training skills are preferred, and experience with safety systems or TÜV certification is a significant advantage.
- Language Skills: Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required. Proficiency in additional languages is beneficial.
- Offshore Certification: Certification to work offshore or a willingness and capability to complete the necessary training is required.
