Passive ICT Infrastructure Lead

Role Overview

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a seasoned Special Airport Systems (SAS) – Passive Engineer to join our dynamic team based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role is designed for a seasoned professional who will lead and oversee all passive infrastructure components essential to Special Airport Systems, including structured cabling, pathways, containment systems, and related infrastructure. The successful candidate will ensure that passive systems are meticulously designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in strict adherence to project standards and aviation regulations, while fostering seamless coordination with active systems, ICT, and construction interfaces. Additionally, this position will support the Project Director by monitoring progress and ensuring seamless integration with airport operational frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

The Passive ICT Infrastructure Lead will be entrusted with the following core responsibilities:

• Project Lifecycle Leadership: Lead the passive SAS scope from inception to completion, including design review, shop drawing and submittal evaluation, installation oversight, rigorous testing, and final handover.
• Engineering Deliverables Ownership: Oversee and deliver all passive infrastructure engineering outputs, such as cable routing, containment coordination, pathway planning, and cross-disciplinary integration.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate closely with active SAS teams, ICT stakeholders, and construction partners to ensure flawless interface management and end-to-end system readiness.
• Quality and Compliance Assurance: Uphold installation quality and regulatory compliance through meticulous inspections, method statement and ITP reviews, and progress verification against established programme milestones.
• Commissioning Readiness: Drive and support commissioning processes, including pre-commissioning checks, FAT/SAT preparation, integrated testing coordination, and comprehensive documentation closure.
• Technical Issue Resolution: Manage technical queries, site issues, and resolution tracking to mitigate risks, prevent delays, and ensure full compliance with airport and aviation standards.
• Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Track project progress, identify potential risks, and provide clear, actionable reporting to the Project Director to facilitate informed decision-making and effective mitigation planning.
• Documentation Excellence: Ensure the highest standards of documentation quality for handover, including as-built drawings, test results, O&M inputs, and evidence packs that align with project requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Extensive Industry Experience: A minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in delivering passive infrastructure solutions for complex ICT, ELV, airport, or mission-critical environments.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in structured cabling systems, containment solutions (tray, trunking, conduit), pathway planning, and passive infrastructure coordination within live construction environments.
• Project Delivery Excellence: Proven track record of working on large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects, with experience in interfacing with active systems and ICT teams while navigating construction constraints.
• Quality and Progress Control: Demonstrated capability in quality assurance, compliance checks, test planning, and structured project close-out processes.
• Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to deliver concise, accurate progress and risk updates to diverse audiences.
• Problem-Solving Aptitude: A pragmatic, site-focused mindset with strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to technical detail.
