Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Fitter will play a critical role in supporting our production and maintenance teams by performing a wide range of duties, including:

• System Assembly and Installation: Construct, assemble, and install mechanical systems, machinery, and components in accordance with engineering specifications and safety standards. This includes reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate assembly.
• Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine inspections, diagnose mechanical issues, and perform repairs or replacements to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and implement corrective actions.
• Precision Alignment and Calibration: Ensure all mechanical systems are properly aligned, balanced, and calibrated to meet performance requirements. This includes adjusting components, tightening fasteners, and verifying measurements to industry standards.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all company safety protocols. Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of safety awareness.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Report any anomalies, potential hazards, or equipment failures to supervisors in a timely manner. Provide detailed documentation for audits and compliance purposes.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, optimize system performance, and implement improvements. Communicate effectively to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to proactively address wear and tear, reducing the risk of unexpected failures and extending the lifespan of equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education and Experience: A technical qualification in mechanical engineering, fitting, or a related discipline, such as a diploma or apprenticeship, is essential. A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial or manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in mechanical systems, including knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, gear systems, and structural components. Familiarity with CAD software or other design tools is advantageous.
• Certifications: Valid certifications in relevant areas, such as welding, rigging, or safety training (e.g., OSHA, WHS), are desirable. A forklift or elevated work platform license may also be required.
