Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Storage Backup Administrator to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and optimization of our enterprise-wide storage and backup solutions. Your expertise will ensure the integrity, availability, and security of our data assets across multiple environments, while supporting business continuity and disaster recovery initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Storage and Backup Administration
As a Storage Backup Administrator, your core responsibilities will include:
- Backup Solution Management: Administer and maintain industry-leading backup platforms including Veeam, Dell EMC Data Domain, and Dell EMC NetWorker. Ensure seamless integration with existing IT infrastructure and adherence to best practices for data protection.
- Data Lifecycle Management: Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive backup data lifecycle policies to optimize storage efficiency, reduce costs, and comply with regulatory and organizational retention requirements.
- Cross-Site Data Replication: Configure and manage secure, high-performance data replication across geographically dispersed sites to guarantee redundancy, high availability, and rapid recovery in the event of a disaster.
- Proactive Monitoring and Administration: Monitor backup jobs, storage systems, and data flows using advanced tools and dashboards. Identify and resolve issues promptly to prevent data loss and minimize downtime. Generate performance reports and maintain detailed documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
Storage Infrastructure Management
You will also oversee the administration of our storage infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security:
- SAN Switch and Storage Platform Administration: Manage and maintain NetApp storage systems (including Unity series), and Brocade SAN switches. Perform routine tasks such as firmware upgrades, topology modifications, and fabric management to support evolving business needs.
- Performance Optimization: Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks related to latency, IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second), and throughput. Implement tuning strategies to enhance storage efficiency and user experience across all environments.
- Data Security and Access Control: Enforce robust security policies by managing user access, permissions, and authentication mechanisms. Ensure compliance with internal security standards and external regulations to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
Qualifications and Competencies
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in storage and backup administration, with a proven track record in enterprise environments.
- Expert-level proficiency in Veeam, Dell EMC Data Domain, Dell EMC NetWorker, NetApp storage systems, and Brocade SAN switches.
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, replication strategies, and disaster recovery principles.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex storage and backup issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Veeam Certified Engineer, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, Brocade Certified Fabric Professional) are highly desirable.
