Role Overview
AECOM is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Cost Engineer to join our dynamic team in Jeddah. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to the successful delivery of complex infrastructure, construction, and engineering projects. The ideal candidate will support senior quantity surveyors and cost engineers in managing project costs, ensuring financial accuracy, and maintaining compliance with contractual obligations. Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management Support: Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and control of project budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets and contractual agreements.
- Quantity Surveying Assistance: Provide technical support in measuring, quantifying, and valuing construction work, materials, and labor to facilitate accurate cost reporting.
- Contract Administration: Collaborate with project teams to review and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms, conditions, and legal requirements.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support informed decision-making by project stakeholders.
- Procurement Support: Assist in the evaluation of tenders, procurement documentation, and supplier/contractor negotiations to secure cost-effective solutions.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate cost-related risks, proposing mitigation strategies to minimize financial exposure and project disruptions.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to resolve cost-related queries, clarify specifications, and ensure transparent financial communication.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and AECOM’s internal policies throughout all cost management activities.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, cost engineering, or a similar role is preferred. Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., CostX, Candy, or similar tools) and strong analytical skills are essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, excellent numerical aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
