Key Responsibilities
The Associate Program Coordinator-Operating Room Unit Manager will be entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities, including:
- Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Operating Room Unit, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance. This includes managing staff schedules, resource allocation, and workflow optimization to enhance productivity and patient care outcomes.
- Team Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between the OR unit, nursing teams, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to foster a cohesive and high-performing environment. Facilitate communication to address operational challenges and implement solutions that drive efficiency.
- Program Coordination: Develop, implement, and monitor operational programs and initiatives to improve OR performance metrics, such as turnaround times, case volume, and patient satisfaction. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align OR operations with the broader strategic goals of JHAH.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the quality of care delivered in the OR unit, ensuring compliance with JHAH’s clinical guidelines, Joint Commission International (JCI) standards, and other regulatory requirements. Identify areas for improvement and lead corrective action plans as necessary.
- Resource Management: Optimize the utilization of OR resources, including equipment, supplies, and personnel, to maximize operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Work closely with procurement and finance teams to manage budgets and control expenses.
- Staff Development: Mentor and support OR staff, including nurses, technicians, and administrative personnel, through training programs, performance evaluations, and career development initiatives. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the unit.
- Reporting and Analytics: Generate and analyze operational reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs), such as surgical case volumes, wait times, and patient outcomes. Present data-driven insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in operating room management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Prior experience in a healthcare setting within the Middle East or a similar international environment is preferred.
- Certifications: Active certification as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) is advantageous. Additional certifications in healthcare management, such as Lean Six Sigma or Project Management Professional (PMP), are a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of healthcare information systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHR) and OR management software. Familiarity with data analytics tools and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and make data-driven decisions under pressure. Proficiency in both English and Arabic is beneficial.
- Compliance: In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, including JCI standards, infection control protocols, and patient safety guidelines. Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards.
