Role Overview
The Airfield Engineer position at HL Gulf is a full-time, on-site role based in the Kingdom. This critical role involves comprehensive responsibility for the planning, supervision, and execution of airfield maintenance and engineering activities. Key responsibilities include conducting detailed inspections of runways, taxiways, and aprons, performing pavement assessments, and verifying the functionality of lighting and marking systems. The Airfield Engineer will be tasked with preparing precise technical reports, drawings, and documentation to ensure adherence to international and local aviation standards, including ICAO, FAA, and other regulatory requirements. Collaboration with airport operations, external contractors, and internal teams is essential to schedule maintenance activities, allocate resources efficiently, and minimize disruptions to airport operations. Additionally, the role encompasses monitoring project progress, enforcing stringent safety protocols, and proposing strategic improvements to enhance airfield performance and extend asset longevity.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Inspections and Assessments: Conduct thorough inspections of airfield components, including runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated infrastructure, to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with aviation standards.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, and documentation to support compliance with international and local aviation regulations, including ICAO, FAA, and local authority requirements.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with airport operations, contractors, and internal teams to plan, schedule, and execute maintenance activities while minimizing operational disruptions.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce rigorous safety procedures and ensure all airfield maintenance activities adhere to regulatory standards and company policies.
- Resource Management: Oversee the allocation of resources, including personnel and equipment, to ensure efficient execution of projects and timely completion of tasks.
- Performance Monitoring: Track project progress, assess outcomes, and recommend improvements to enhance airfield performance and extend the lifespan of assets.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between airport authorities, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate seamless communication and alignment on project objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: A relevant engineering degree in Civil, Electrical, or Aviation Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in airport, airfield, or infrastructure projects, including hands-on involvement with airfield equipment and systems.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of airfield design, maintenance practices, and applicable aviation standards and regulations. Proficiency in engineering software and tools, such as CAD, pavement analysis software, and project management platforms.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and oversee on-site works in a safety-focused environment.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality and compliance.
- Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage.
- Mobility: Willingness to work on-site in the Kingdom and travel to other airport locations as required by the role.
- Regional Experience: Prior experience in the Middle East aviation or infrastructure sector is beneficial but not mandatory.
