Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Radiation Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in the delivery of advanced radiotherapy treatments, ensuring precision, safety, and patient comfort throughout the process. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting oncologic care, from initial simulation and treatment planning to the administration of radiation therapy and the management of essential equipment. This position requires a meticulous approach, strong technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Simulation and Treatment Planning: Conduct simulation procedures, the foundational step in developing an effective radiotherapy treatment plan. Utilize the CT simulator to position patients accurately on imaging machines, ensuring precise anatomical alignment. Perform necessary patient markings to facilitate consistent and targeted treatment delivery.
• Customized Patient Support: Fabricate and apply custom molds and masks as required to immobilize patients during treatment sessions. Maintain meticulous records of molding material and mask supplies, including inventory tracking, requisitioning, and ensuring adequate stock levels to support uninterrupted clinical operations.
• Radiotherapy Administration: Assist in the administration of radiotherapy sessions with a focus on patient safety and comfort. Ensure proper positioning of patients on radiotherapy machines, verifying alignment and comfort to enhance treatment accuracy and minimize discomfort.
• Blood Product Irradiation: Perform irradiation of blood products as clinically indicated, adhering to established protocols to ensure safety and efficacy in transfusion medicine.
• Equipment Maintenance and Coordination: Serve as a liaison with biomedical engineers to address machine malfunctions promptly. Monitor the progress of repair requests, coordinate replacement part procurement, and oversee maintenance activities for radiotherapy equipment. This includes both in-house maintenance by biomedical engineering teams and external servicing by manufacturing companies to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• On-Call Responsibilities: Provide availability for on-call duties outside regular working hours to address urgent oncologic cases requiring immediate irradiation. Respond to critical situations involving blood product irradiation to support emergency medical needs.
• Collaborative and Administrative Duties: Engage in collaborative efforts with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless integration of radiotherapy services within the broader treatment plan. Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the radiation therapy department.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must possess a valid certification in Radiation Therapy and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development. Ideal applicants will exhibit strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Proficiency in operating advanced radiotherapy equipment, along with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, is essential. Prior experience in a clinical setting and familiarity with radiation safety protocols are highly desirable.
