Key Responsibilities
The NOC Engineer will play a pivotal role in maintaining the stability and performance of our network infrastructure. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Network Monitoring & Event Handling: Continuously monitor signaling pathways, routing behavior, SIM flows, OSS hooks, and cross-core interactions that impact satellite services. Identify and address anomalies to prevent service disruptions.
- Incident Management: Respond to network incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to restore services promptly. Coordinate with internal teams and partner NOCs to ensure efficient escalation and resolution.
- Technical Analysis: Analyze logs, traces, routing tables, and event correlations across network elements to diagnose issues and optimize performance. Utilize advanced tools to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
- OSS/NMS Tool Administration: Operate and maintain OSS/NMS tools such as Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or SolarWinds. Configure dashboards, alarms, and KPIs to monitor network health and performance metrics.
- Logging & Packet Analysis: Utilize logging tools like Elastic, Splunk, or Kibana, and packet analysis tools such as Wireshark to troubleshoot complex network issues and ensure data integrity.
- Scripting & Automation: Develop and maintain basic scripts in Python or Bash to automate routine tasks, enhance monitoring capabilities, and improve operational efficiency.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of incidents, resolutions, and network changes. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for stakeholders to communicate network status and performance trends.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and partner NOCs, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment on network-related initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in networking (CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS) or telecom operations are highly advantageous and will be considered a strong asset.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2–5 years of hands-on experience in NOC operations, telecom monitoring, satellite operations, or core-network support.
- Proven experience working with signaling flows, routing tables, authentication paths, or mobile-core elements.
- Familiarity with multi-vendor NOC environments, incident workflows, and partner escalations.
- Exposure to satellite network components, gateways, or hybrid RAN-core flows is desirable but not mandatory.
Technical Proficiency
- Strong understanding of signaling protocols (e.g., Diameter, SIP, NAS), routing fundamentals, and core-network behavior.
- Knowledge of telecom connectivity flows, including SIM activation, attach procedures, mobility, and authentication processes.
- Proficiency with OSS/NMS tools, logging platforms (Elastic, Splunk, Kibana), and packet analysis tools (Wireshark).
- Experience with ticketing/ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy.
- Basic scripting skills in Python or Bash, along with familiarity with Linux environments and troubleshooting tools.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel, dashboard tools, and documentation platforms to support reporting and analysis.
