Position Overview

The Director of Engineering – Multi-Property role is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the engineering operations across multiple properties within the Delta Hotels portfolio. This role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale engineering teams, ensuring the highest standards of facility maintenance, and driving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of hospitality engineering, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Multi-Property Oversight: Provide strategic direction and operational leadership for engineering teams across multiple Delta Hotels properties, ensuring consistency in service delivery and adherence to brand standards.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Facility Maintenance & Compliance: Oversee the maintenance of all property systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety, ensuring compliance with local regulations and Marriott International standards.
• Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage annual engineering budgets, optimizing resource allocation to achieve cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or guest satisfaction.
• Sustainability & Innovation: Lead initiatives to enhance energy efficiency, reduce waste, and implement sustainable practices across properties, aligning with Marriott’s global sustainability goals.
• Guest Experience & Operational Excellence: Collaborate with property leadership to address guest feedback related to engineering issues, ensuring prompt resolution and maintaining the highest standards of service excellence.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors and contractors, negotiating contracts and ensuring timely delivery of services.
• Risk Management: Implement and monitor safety protocols, emergency preparedness plans, and preventive maintenance programs to mitigate risks and ensure the well-being of guests and staff.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Engineering Manager, LEED AP) are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive engineering leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a multi-property or large-scale hospitality environment. Prior experience in luxury or upscale hotel brands is preferred.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing infrastructure, fire safety codes, and energy management systems. Familiarity with property management systems (PMS) and engineering software is advantageous.
• Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams across multiple locations. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for collaborating with property leadership and corporate stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Proven ability to analyze complex situations, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions under pressure. A proactive and results-driven approach is critical.
• Regulatory Compliance: Thorough understanding of local, national, and international regulations governing hospitality engineering, including health, safety, and environmental standards.

Location & Work Environment

This position is based at our corporate office located at 3243 Al Salam Street, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role requires frequent travel to oversee operations at multiple properties, with a focus on ensuring consistency in service delivery and operational standards. The position is full-time and does not offer remote work arrangements.
