Key Responsibilities
The Medical Science Liaison will play a critical role in driving scientific engagement and education within the biosimilar therapeutic area. Your responsibilities will include:
- Scientific Expertise and Support: Act as a trusted scientific resource, providing accurate and up-to-date medical and scientific information to KOLs, healthcare professionals, and internal teams. This includes responding to inquiries, addressing adverse event reports, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong, credible relationships with physicians, academic centers, and medical societies to foster collaboration, research opportunities, and educational initiatives. Identify and engage with KOLs who align with Abbott’s scientific and educational goals.
- Medical Education and Training: Deliver high-impact scientific presentations, training sessions, and educational materials to internal teams, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders. Support the development of continuing medical education (CME) programs, advisory boards, and scientific reviews.
- Competitive Intelligence: Monitor and analyze competitor activities, including product strategies, clinical studies, and commercial messaging, to provide strategic insights that inform Abbott’s scientific and commercial decisions.
- Conference and Society Engagement: Represent Abbott at national and international scientific conferences, symposia, and medical society meetings. Develop comprehensive summaries of key scientific trends, emerging therapies, and therapeutic area advancements to share with internal stakeholders.
- Publication Support: Collaborate with internal medical and clinical teams to support the publication of scientific and medical content, ensuring alignment with Abbott’s scientific integrity and regulatory requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and medical affairs teams to enhance their scientific understanding of biosimilar therapies, enabling them to effectively communicate Abbott’s value proposition to healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
- Compassionate Use Support: Assist physicians in appropriately directing requests for access to Abbott’s products on a named patient or compassionate use basis, ensuring compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We seek a highly motivated and scientifically astute professional with a passion for advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in a life science or medical-related field (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent preferred).
- Proven experience in a Medical Science Liaison, medical affairs, or a related scientific role, with a strong understanding of biosimilar therapies or relevant therapeutic areas.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
