Tanajib Operation and Maintenance Company (TOMCo), a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic team at the Marjan Field Project. This critical role involves performing mechanical maintenance activities at our state-of-the-art Cogeneration and Desalination Plants, which deliver approximately 940 MW of electricity, 1,084 tons per hour of steam, and 19,470 cubic meters of desalinated water daily. Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our operations while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for executing a wide range of mechanical maintenance tasks, including:

  • Maintenance Execution: Perform day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities to support the operational readiness of plant equipment, ensuring alignment with availability, reliability, and efficiency targets.
  • Outage Support: Assist in the planning and execution of both planned and unplanned outages for major plant equipment, including Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) systems, to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Troubleshooting & Condition Monitoring: Diagnose mechanical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures. Utilize condition monitoring techniques to proactively identify potential equipment degradation.
  • CMMS Implementation: Support the implementation and maintenance of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to streamline work order tracking, inventory management, and maintenance scheduling.
  • Spare Parts Coordination: Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure the availability of critical spare parts, adhering to OEM maintenance requirements and lifecycle support strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other plant functions to foster effective communication, alignment, and collaboration in achieving operational excellence.
  • Safety & Compliance: Uphold the highest standards of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) by strictly adhering to applicable regulations, company policies, and maintenance standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to plant improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for efficiency gains, cost reduction, and reliability enhancement through data-driven analysis and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A Diploma or accredited degree in Mechanical Engineering, Power Plant Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification. Apprenticeship completion or demonstrated competence through technical training and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in mechanical maintenance within power plants, cogeneration facilities, desalination plants, oil & gas sectors, fertilizer plants, or other large continuous process industries. Experience in Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plants, particularly with Gas Turbines and auxiliary systems, is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical maintenance practices, troubleshooting methodologies, condition monitoring techniques, and reliability improvement strategies. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred, along with an understanding of OEM maintenance requirements and contractor coordination.
  • Safety & Compliance: A strong commitment to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) standards, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, planning, reporting, and problem-solving abilities. Capable of working effectively within multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with GE gas turbines or similar high-capacity turbine systems is considered an advantage.
