Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accounting Officer will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of Almarai by performing a diverse range of duties, including:

• Financial Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and review accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements. Ensure adherence to internal policies and external audits to maintain transparency and accountability.
• Strategic Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support business decisions, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Provide actionable insights to senior management to optimize resource allocation and improve profitability.
• Internal Controls and Risk Management: Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks. Identify potential areas of improvement and recommend corrective actions to enhance operational efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with department heads, regional finance teams, and external stakeholders to align financial objectives with business goals. Facilitate seamless communication between finance and other business units to ensure cohesive financial strategies.
• Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team by fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and innovation. Encourage professional growth and ensure the team meets performance targets and deadlines.
• Tax Planning and Optimization: Oversee tax compliance and planning initiatives to minimize liabilities while ensuring full adherence to tax laws and regulations. Collaborate with tax advisors to identify opportunities for tax efficiency and cost savings.
• System and Process Improvement: Evaluate and enhance financial systems, tools, and processes to streamline accounting operations and improve data accuracy. Recommend and implement technological advancements to drive automation and efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior or supervisory role within a large organization. Experience in the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector or a multinational corporation is a significant advantage.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills. Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and drive financial initiatives with a results-oriented mindset.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
