Senior Cost Control Engineer

Position Overview

UrbaCon Contracting & Trading Company, a leading organization in the construction and trading sector based in Saudi Arabia, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cost Control Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing cost control processes, ensuring financial efficiency, and contributing to the successful delivery of projects within budget and timeline constraints. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cost engineering, project management, and financial analysis, with a proven ability to drive cost-saving initiatives and optimize resource allocation.

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Develop accurate cost estimates for projects, including material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs. Collaborate with project managers to establish realistic budgets and financial plans.
• Cost Monitoring and Reporting: Track project expenditures in real-time, analyze variances between actual and planned costs, and prepare detailed cost reports for stakeholders. Identify trends and recommend corrective actions to mitigate financial risks.
• Financial Analysis and Forecasting: Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to assess project profitability, cash flow projections, and cost-saving opportunities. Provide actionable insights to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
• Contract Administration: Review and evaluate contracts, subcontractor agreements, and procurement documents to ensure compliance with cost control policies. Negotiate favorable terms and conditions to minimize financial exposure.Risk Management: Identify potential cost overruns and financial risks early in the project lifecycle. Implement proactive measures to mitigate these risks and safeguard project profitability.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, procurement departments, and external partners to align cost control strategies with overall project objectives. Foster a culture of cost awareness and accountability across the organization.
• Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance cost control methodologies, tools, and systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency. Recommend and implement best practices to streamline financial operations.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, CCP, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in cost control, project management, or financial analysis within the construction or engineering sector. Prior experience in a senior or leadership role is preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of cost control software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, or SAP), financial modeling tools, and ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is essential.
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a results-driven mindset. Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, including senior management and non-financial stakeholders.
• Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members. Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and alignment across departments.
• Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction methodologies, procurement processes, and regulatory requirements in the Saudi market. Familiarity with local cost norms and market conditions is advantageous.
