The Transportation Logistics Manager is a pivotal role responsible for orchestrating and optimizing all transportation operations across our company’s owned and leased fleet. This strategic position ensures efficient container movement between ports, customer locations, yards, and depots, while upholding high standards of safety, cost control, regulatory compliance, and customer service. The Transportation Logistics Manager leads drivers, dispatchers, and transport coordinators to maximize fleet utilization and operational efficiency.

• Transportation Operations:
• Plan, manage, and oversee daily transportation activities.
• Coordinate container movements between ports, terminals, customers, depots, and container yards.
• Ensure timely collection and delivery of import and export containers.
• Monitor fleet productivity and optimize truck utilization.
• Manage transportation schedules and dispatch activities.
• Minimize empty truck movements and optimize route planning.
• Fleet Management:
• Manage both company-owned and leased trucks and trailers.
• Ensure fleet availability and maximize equipment utilization.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Monitor vehicle inspections, registrations, permits, and insurance.
• Evaluate fleet performance and recommend fleet expansion or replacement.
• Driver Management:
• Lead, supervise, and develop transportation drivers.
• Plan driver schedules and shift allocation.
• Monitor driver productivity, attendance, and compliance.
• Conduct driver performance evaluations.
• Ensure drivers comply with road safety regulations and company policies.
• Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions.
• Container & Depot Operations:
• Coordinate container movements with ports, depots, terminals, and customers.
• Monitor container status, detention, demurrage, and free-time utilization.
• Ensure efficient container loading, unloading, and yard operations.
• Coordinate with depot teams regarding container availability and inspections.
• Optimize yard truck movements and equipment allocation.
• Customer Service & Coordination:
• Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Planning, Sales, and Warehouse teams.
• Ensure customer delivery requirements are achieved.
• Resolve transportation-related customer issues promptly.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, port authorities, and third-party transport providers.
• Cost Control:
• Control transportation costs and improve operational efficiency.
• Monitor fuel consumption and implement fuel-saving initiatives.
• Manage leasing costs and vendor performance.
• Analyze transportation KPIs and recommend cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare transportation budgets and forecasts.
• Health, Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with transportation laws and regulations.
• Promote safe driving practices and safety awareness.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and company procedures.
• Maintain transportation records and audit readiness.
• Ensure drivers maintain valid licenses and certifications.
• Performance Monitoring:
• Track transportation KPIs including:
• On-Time Delivery (OTD)
• Fleet Utilization
• Truck Turnaround Time
• Fuel Efficiency
• Driver Productivity
• Container Cycle Time
• Empty Mileage
• Vehicle Downtime
• Accident Rate
• Customer Satisfaction

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Professional certifications in logistics or fleet management are an advantage.

Experience:

Candidates should have 7-10 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial position. Strong experience managing container transportation, experience with owned fleets and third-party/leased fleets, knowledge of port, terminal, depot, and container yard operations, and experience managing drivers and dispatch teams are essential.

Technical Knowledge:

Proven expertise in container logistics operations, fleet management systems, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS tracking systems, and relevant software applications is expected.
