Your Role as a Senior Accountant
As a Senior Accountant at Chalhoub Group, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial records and accounting processes. This position demands a high level of expertise in financial reconciliation, adherence to international accounting standards, and strategic financial management to support the Group’s ambitious growth and operational excellence. You will serve as a trusted advisor to business units, providing technical accounting guidance, overseeing critical financial processes, and ensuring seamless collaboration across departments to drive efficiency and transparency.
Key Responsibilities
- Organizational Excellence:
- Adhere rigorously to all accounting policies, processes, and standard operating procedures to maintain a controlled and consistent workflow.
- Ensure that all financial activities are conducted in alignment with international accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Operational Leadership:
- Demonstrate autonomy in managing day-to-day accounting activities with minimal supervision, ensuring continuity and efficiency in operations.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior team members, addressing escalated cases, issues, or questions to ensure timely resolution and adherence to deadlines.
- Financial Reconciliation and Compliance:
- Oversee the reconciliation of all employee and business unit accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
- Plan, manage, and execute year-end closing processes for assigned accounting records, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Provide expert technical accounting support and interpretation to business units, resolving complex financial queries and ensuring alignment with best practices.
- Conduct thorough reviews of monthly bank reconciliations, verifying their accuracy and timeliness to prevent discrepancies or fraudulent activities.
- Ensure that all reconciliations are free of long-outstanding items and that payments are processed without delay.
- Strategic Financial Management:
- Maintain and update accounting and financial records for assigned business units, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Direct the installation and maintenance of accounting records, including the implementation and enhancement of the ERP system.
- Support cash management, banking operations, and vendor relationships to optimize financial liquidity and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with HR to ensure the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll, addressing any financial discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in cash and treasury management, ensuring optimal financial controls and safeguarding against risks.
- Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting:
- Liaise with external auditors, providing all necessary financial data and documentation to facilitate timely and comprehensive audits in alignment with Group deadlines.
- Coordinate with IT to implement system enhancements and improvements that streamline accounting processes and enhance data integrity.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly management reports, including schedules, worksheets, and narratives, to provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Deliver comprehensive financial and accounting advisory services, including detailed reports and statements, to support business decision-making.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Senior Accountant with a strong background in financial reconciliation, compliance, and strategic financial management. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA. A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a luxury retail or multinational corporate environment, is essential. Proficiency in ERP systems, advanced Excel skills, and a deep understanding of international accounting standards (IFRS) are critical. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities are equally important to thrive in this dynamic and collaborative role.
