Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales & Marketing to oversee the strategic sales and marketing initiatives for a high-performing hotel in the Central Area District of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah, Saudi Arabia. This role is critical to driving revenue growth, maximizing occupancy, and enhancing the hotel’s market presence, particularly during peak booking periods exceeding 300 rooms and with significant local food and beverage revenue. The ideal candidate will lead a high-performing sales team, develop and execute innovative marketing strategies, and foster long-term client relationships to achieve the hotel’s financial and operational objectives. This position requires a strategic leader who can align sales and marketing efforts with brand standards, regional initiatives, and owner expectations while delivering measurable returns on investment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership & Strategy:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve annual revenue targets, including room bookings and ancillary services, with a focus on RevPAR (Revenue per Available Room) and market share growth.
    • Lead both passive and proactive sales efforts, including managing strategic client accounts, corporate partnerships, and group bookings to drive consistent revenue streams.
    • Collaborate with regional marketing and sales teams to align hotel-specific campaigns with broader regional and national promotions, ensuring cohesive brand messaging and maximum impact.
    • Analyze market trends, economic indicators, and competitive intelligence to refine sales tactics and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
    • Monitor and evaluate sales performance through STAR reports, competitive shopping analyses, and revenue management tools to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Marketing & Brand Management:
    • Oversee the hotel’s marketing budget to develop and execute targeted campaigns, promotions, and events that enhance brand visibility and drive direct bookings.
    • Work closely with regional marketing communications to integrate hotel-specific initiatives into larger regional and global campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand standards and guest expectations.
    • Identify and leverage public relations opportunities to strengthen the hotel’s reputation and community presence, including media outreach and event sponsorships.
    • Ensure all marketing materials, proposals, and client communications reflect the hotel’s brand identity and service excellence standards.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Provide hands-on leadership to the sales team, setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular evaluations, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Recruit, train, and mentor top talent, including identifying high-potential candidates and implementing succession planning strategies to build a resilient and diverse leadership pipeline.
    • Utilize the Leadership Performance Process (LPP) to align individual goals with hotel objectives, address performance gaps, and recognize outstanding contributions through rewards and incentives.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources to forecast talent needs, streamline recruitment processes, and minimize turnover, particularly in competitive markets.
    • Equip the sales team with advanced tools, training resources, and industry insights to enhance their ability to upsell ancillary services and deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, advocating for their needs and ensuring their expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
    • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations, corporate clients, travel agencies, and industry stakeholders to expand the hotel’s network and market reach.
    • Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and community engagements to strengthen brand recognition and foster long-term business relationships.
    • Monitor client satisfaction through post-event follow-ups and proactive service recovery initiatives to enhance loyalty and repeat business.
  • Operational Excellence & Compliance:
    • Ensure seamless coordination between sales, operations, and revenue management teams to deliver flawless guest experiences and maximize profitability.
    • Uphold Marriott International’s service standards and brand guidelines, including participation in daily operational briefings and adherence to brand-specific principles (e.g., Marriott Hotels & Resorts Service Community, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts Insightful Service).
    • Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including Human Resources, Engineering, and Loss Prevention, to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as union requirements.
    • Develop and implement crisis communication protocols to support the General Manager in managing reputational risks and operational challenges.
  • Financial Stewardship & Reporting:
    • Monitor and control marketing and sales expenditures to optimize ROI while achieving revenue targets.
    • Prepare detailed reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitive analysis for senior leadership and stakeholders.
    • Present innovative revenue-generating ideas and strategic recommendations to enhance the hotel’s market position and profitability.
