Position Overview
Nesma Infrastructure and Technology (NIT), a leader in delivering cutting-edge infrastructure solutions, is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Coordinator to join our QEHSS Department in Riyadh or Jubail. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of environmental management systems across our BSP -380 KV Substations projects and operations. The ideal candidate will ensure strict adherence to Saudi environmental regulations, client-specific requirements, and NIT’s internal standards while fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
The Environmental Coordinator will play a critical role in maintaining NIT’s commitment to environmental stewardship by executing the following responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure full compliance with applicable Saudi environmental laws, client contractual obligations, and NIT’s Integrated Management System (IMS) standards to mitigate legal and operational risks.
- Environmental Management Systems (EMS): Support the implementation and maintenance of EMS in alignment with ISO 14001 standards, ensuring alignment with company procedures and best practices.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive environmental risk assessments for all project activities, identifying potential hazards and developing robust mitigation strategies to safeguard the environment and project integrity.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and submit accurate, timely environmental compliance reports to clients and senior management, maintaining meticulous records of all environmental-related activities and outcomes.
- Procedure Development: Assist in the creation, review, and continuous improvement of environmental procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and related documentation to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless environmental compliance across all project phases, from planning to execution and closure.
- Audit Support: Participate in internal and external environmental audits, facilitating corrective action plans and ensuring timely closure of identified non-conformances to uphold certification standards.
- Training & Awareness: Drive environmental awareness initiatives through targeted training sessions, toolbox talks, and presentations to cultivate a safety-first culture among employees and stakeholders.
- Issue Resolution: Address environmental concerns raised during inspections, audits, or client feedback, implementing corrective measures to prevent recurrence and maintain operational excellence.
- Certification Support: Contribute to IMS certification processes, ensuring alignment with relevant international standards and regulatory frameworks to reinforce NIT’s commitment to sustainability.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the direct manager to support the department’s strategic and operational objectives.

- Proven working knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems and their practical application in industrial or infrastructure projects.
- In-depth familiarity with Saudi environmental regulations, including local and national compliance requirements, to ensure adherence to legal and contractual obligations.
- Strong understanding of environmental risk assessment methodologies and the ability to develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Experience in conducting environmental audits and preparing detailed compliance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to support documentation, data analysis, and reporting tasks.

- Regulatory Approvals: Prior approval or accreditation (e.g., from SEC or NEOM) is an added benefit and demonstrates familiarity with regional regulatory frameworks.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in environmental management, EHS roles, or related fields, with a proven track record in infrastructure, energy, or industrial projects.
