Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and delivering robust Microsoft-based IT infrastructure and cloud services. You will lead critical IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and system integrations, while providing mentorship to mid-level engineers to foster team growth and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior System Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:

• Incident Response and Business Continuity: Respond swiftly to critical issues to minimize downtime and ensure seamless business continuity, safeguarding operational efficiency and productivity.
• Project Delivery: Lead and execute high-quality IT projects, including infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, and system integrations, ensuring timely and successful completion.
• Operational Management: Perform daily operational tasks related to Microsoft products, virtualization, security, and database management to maintain a stable and secure IT environment.
• Technical Leadership: Provide expert coverage for Windows Servers, SQL databases, Security Gateways, and service projects, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Mentorship and Team Development: Guide and mentor mid-level engineers to enhance their technical skills and contribute to the long-term sustainability of the team.
• Advanced Troubleshooting: Handle escalated customer incidents with advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve complex technical challenges efficiently.
• Adaptability and Collaboration: Undertake additional tasks as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative approach to achieving organizational goals.

Technical Expertise and Requirements

To excel in this role, you must possess in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the following areas:

• Microsoft Active Directory (AD) and Azure Active Directory (AAD): Configure, manage, and troubleshoot AD and AAD, including ADFS, AADConnect, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and LDAP integrations.
• Microsoft Exchange Server: Deploy, migrate, upgrade, and maintain Exchange Server environments, including high availability configurations (DAG), cumulative updates (CU), mailbox management, mail signature setups, and Outlook profile troubleshooting (POP & Exchange).
• Microsoft 365 and Collaboration Solutions: Implement and administer Microsoft Office 365 / Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and related collaboration tools to enhance productivity and communication.
• Windows Server Administration: Manage and optimize Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and implementation of new services and functionalities.
• Hyper-V Virtualization: Administer and optimize Hyper-V virtualization platforms to support scalable and efficient IT infrastructure.
• Security and PKI Management: Manage Security Mail Gateways and Certificate Authority (CA) servers, ensuring robust monitoring, incident response, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) management.
• Microsoft SQL Server: Administer, migrate, and tune SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and data integrity.
• PowerShell Automation: Write, understand, and execute PowerShell scripts for Exchange and other system automation tasks to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
• Cross-Platform Support: Support multiple operating systems and ensure compatibility for application installations, fostering a versatile and inclusive IT environment.
• Project Leadership: Lead operational and technical projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Qualifications and Certifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft systems engineering, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in Hyper-V and Office 365 / Microsoft 365 administration.
• Certifications (Preferred):
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • MCSE: Core Infrastructure
  • MCSE: Microsoft Messaging
