Laboratory Assistant

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our educational team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in facilitating hands-on learning experiences for students by providing essential support in laboratory sessions and classes. Your responsibilities will encompass preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, materials, and safety protocols, all under the guidance of subject teachers. As a vigilant and proactive member of our team, you will ensure a secure and productive learning environment while contributing to the academic and operational excellence of our institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Laboratory Preparation and Support: Set up and organize laboratory equipment, chemicals, and supplies for chemistry, physics, and biology sessions in alignment with lesson plans provided by subject teachers. Ensure all materials are readily available and properly arranged to facilitate seamless practical learning.
• Instructional Assistance: Collaborate closely with subject teachers to deliver high-quality practical lessons. Assist in demonstrating experimental procedures, guiding students through hands-on activities, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols at all times.
• Safety and Compliance: Oversee laboratory operations during class sessions to maintain a safe environment. Implement and enforce safety measures, including proper handling of hazardous materials, correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to institutional and governmental safety regulations. Educate students on the safe and correct utilization of laboratory equipment and materials.
• Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of laboratory inventory, including equipment, chemicals, and consumables. Monitor stock levels, report shortages or required replenishments, and ensure the timely procurement of necessary supplies to avoid disruptions in laboratory activities.
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the safe custody, optimal use, and regular servicing of laboratory equipment. Coordinate maintenance schedules, report malfunctions, and liaise with external technicians or vendors as needed to uphold operational efficiency.
• Professional Development and Collaboration: Actively participate in professional development programs to enhance your skills and stay updated with advancements in laboratory practices and safety standards. Foster effective working relationships with colleagues, contribute to school initiatives, and engage in self-evaluation and improvement planning processes.
• Community and Institutional Engagement: Contribute to the broader life of the school and its community by participating in planned programs, task forces, and school improvement initiatives. Uphold the institution’s values, policies, and regulations, including those mandated by the Saudi government, while respecting local traditions and cultural norms.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• Technical Proficiency: Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory environments, including familiarity with standard safety measures, equipment operation, and material handling procedures.
