Lead Process Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Lead Process Engineer to spearhead the design and development of process units, pipelines, utilities, and offsite facilities for medium to large-scale projects. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in process engineering, with a deep understanding of project economics, calculation methodologies, and international standards. This role requires a minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in the Oil & Gas, Hydrocarbons, or Infrastructure industries, along with exceptional leadership and communication skills to drive project success.

Reporting Structure

The Lead Process Engineer will report to both Discipline Management and Project Management, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives while providing technical oversight to a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following core duties and responsibilities:

• Project Leadership and Team Management: Lead a team of 10 to 15 Process Engineers and related discipline engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Technical Expertise and Simulation: Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience in HYSYS simulation for upstream Oil & Gas projects, ensuring accurate and efficient process modeling.
• Project Scoping and Deliverables: Oversee the scoping of projects, including the development of process deliverables such as PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams), P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), Design Basis documents, Process Narratives, Process Calculations, and Equipment Specification documents.
• Review and Approval: Review and approve process engineering work plans, basis of design documents, and all associated deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Estimation and Planning: Accurately estimate work-hours and resource requirements to support project scheduling and budget adherence.
• Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the project team, including clients, ensuring the application of best practices and adherence to applicable procedures and standards (client-specific, KBR, and international).
• Design Integrity and Performance: Ensure the design integrity of the process engineering scope, monitor the performance of assigned staff, and deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Client Engagement: Lead technical presentations to clients and their representatives, effectively communicating complex engineering concepts and project updates.
• Technical Resource and Support: Serve as a technical resource to Process Engineers and related discipline engineers and designers, addressing technical challenges and ensuring the successful execution of projects.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure familiarity with firewater demand calculations, equipment requirements, industrial drainage design, and associated Saudi Aramco standards and NFPA requirements to uphold safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field is required.
• Experience: A minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience, with a strong focus on upstream Oil and Gas Facilities Design.
• Technical Competencies:
  • Sound knowledge of basic engineering principles, P&ID/PFD development, hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizing.
  • Proficiency in process simulation methods, including HYSYS and Pipenet.
  • Familiarity with key Saudi Arabian engineering standards and procedures.
  • Experience with firewater demand calculations, equipment requirements, and industrial drainage design, with knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards and NFPA requirements considered a strong asset.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to deliver clear and concise technical presentations.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory.
