Legal Officer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Officer to join our dynamic team at Misk Schools. Areas of Responsibility

The Legal Officer will play a critical role in managing both internal and external legal matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Key responsibilities include:

• Legal Advice and Research: Provide timely, accurate, and well-researched legal advice to the Director of Legal and senior management. Conduct thorough examinations of legal issues and prepare concise, actionable reports to support decision-making.
• Contract Management: Draft, review, and monitor legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and letters, to ensure compliance with legal obligations and organizational policies. Maintain a meticulous tracker of all agreements and their respective statuses.
• Policy Development and Review: Assist in the formulation, implementation, and amendment of Misk Schools’ policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current legislation. Review existing policies to identify potential legal risks and recommend mitigations.
• Risk Mitigation and Compliance: Collaborate with all departments to identify legal risks and propose appropriate courses of action to eliminate or mitigate these risks. Advise management on legal strategies to safeguard the institution’s interests.
• Legal Documentation and Analysis: Analyze and review legal agreements, legislation, and other legal documents to ensure they meet organizational and regulatory standards. Implement legal policies and procedures to maintain compliance with evolving legal frameworks.
• Administrative Support: Provide continuous support to the Director of Legal and assist in administrative duties as directed. Undertake additional responsibilities as required to ensure the smooth operation of the legal department.
• Safeguarding: Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding by promoting the welfare of children and young people. Work closely with the designated safeguarding lead to implement and enforce safeguarding policies and the staff code of conduct.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Law is essential.
• Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant legal experience is required. Prior experience in an educational or corporate legal environment is highly desirable.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory to effectively communicate with stakeholders and navigate legal documents in both languages.
• Technical and Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex legal issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
