Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Neurophysiology Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of neurodiagnostic procedures, including EEG recordings, nerve conduction studies, and evoked potential testing, to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning for patients with neurological conditions. Your expertise will contribute directly to the quality of care provided by our neurology department, ensuring timely and precise diagnostic evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

The Neurophysiology Technician will execute a variety of specialized tasks, including:

  • EEG Procedures: Conducting short routine EEG recordings, long-term video EEG monitoring, and bedside EEG recordings to capture and analyze brain wave activity.
  • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS): Performing nerve conduction tests to assess the function of peripheral nerves and identify potential abnormalities.
  • Evoked Potential Testing: Conducting visual and somatosensory evoked potential tests to evaluate the integrity of sensory pathways in the nervous system.
  • Assistance with Advanced Procedures: Supporting neurology doctors in performing advanced electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction velocity (NCV), and visual evoked potential (VEP) studies to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
  • Report Preparation and Documentation: Accurately typing, formatting, and filing detailed reports for each patient procedure, ensuring compliance with clinical documentation standards.
  • Appointment Coordination: Scheduling and arranging appointments for polysomnography (PSG), PAP titration, EEG, EMG-NCV, and VEP studies to optimize patient workflow and departmental efficiency.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Inventory: Performing routine care, maintenance, and inventory evaluation of neurodiagnostic equipment in collaboration with biomedical engineers to ensure operational reliability and compliance with safety standards.
  • Safety and Compliance Reporting: Identifying and reporting any safety or operational concerns to the Chairperson of Neurosciences to mitigate risks and maintain a secure clinical environment.
  • Patient Education: Providing clear and compassionate education to patients and their families regarding neurological health conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures to promote informed decision-making and adherence to care plans.
  • Professional Conduct: Delivering all procedures with a high standard of professionalism, efficiency, and adherence to clinical protocols to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Completion of neurophysiology procedures training either within a hospital setting or through a pre-employment training session from an accredited facility, demonstrating proficiency in all required competencies.
  • Experience:
    • Neurophysiology Technician: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Neurophysiology Technician or as an EEG/NCV/EP technician, with documented proficiency in all required procedures.
    • Senior Neurophysiology Technician: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the same or similar role, with a proven track record of excellence in neurodiagnostic techniques.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word with a typing speed of 20 words per minute or higher, ensuring accurate and efficient report generation.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Arabic is preferred to facilitate effective communication with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
  • Certification and Licensure: Valid license to practice as a Neurophysiology Technician in accordance with regional health regulatory authorities, such as the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) or the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Work Environment

The Neurophysiology Technician will operate within a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare setting, working closely with neurologists, biomedical engineers, and administrative staff. This role requires a commitment to continuous learning, adaptability to evolving technologies, and a dedication to delivering high-quality patient care.
