Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Steward to join our esteemed team at The Ritz-Carlton, where excellence in service and luxury hospitality are paramount. In this essential role, you will play a critical part in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency within our culinary and food & beverage departments. Your responsibilities will ensure that our guests experience an unparalleled level of comfort and satisfaction during their stay.

Key Responsibilities

As a Steward, your primary duties will include operating and maintaining a variety of cleaning equipment and tools to uphold the pristine condition of our kitchen, storage areas, and dining facilities. Your tasks will encompass:

• Equipment and Area Maintenance: Utilize dishwashing machines, hand wash stations, pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors to ensure all equipment is clean and functional. Thoroughly wash and disinfect kitchen surfaces, tables, tools, knives, and other equipment to meet the highest hygiene standards.
• Inventory and Stock Management: Receive and inspect deliveries, properly store perishable items, and rotate stock to maintain freshness. Ensure clean wares are stored in designated areas and adhere to all food safety protocols.
• Dishwashing and Sanitization: Operate the 3-compartment sink to wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, and glassware. Inspect cleaned items for residue, re-wash as necessary, and rack them for storage. Utilize hot water sprays to remove food particles and ensure all items are thoroughly sanitized.
• Waste Management and Recycling: Sort, soak, and wash silverware, break down dirty bus tubs, and empty trash receptacles. Maintain the dumpster area, dispose of glass in designated containers, and properly handle cardboard and recyclables to promote sustainability.
• Operational Support: Assist in cleaning and mopping all assigned areas, including floors, walls, and storage spaces. Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and security protocols to ensure a secure and compliant work environment.
• Team Collaboration and Communication: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and supervisors to foster a cohesive and productive team environment. Communicate clearly and professionally with team members to support common goals and uphold quality standards.
• Physical Requirements: Perform job duties that may include standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods. Engage in activities such as lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Demonstrate flexibility by reaching overhead, bending, twisting, and stooping as needed.
• Safety and Compliance: Report any maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management. Complete all required safety training and certifications to ensure a secure workplace. Protect company assets and adhere to all operational guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

While formal education is not required, a dedication to detail and a willingness to learn are essential. Prior experience in a similar role is beneficial but not mandatory.
