The Opportunity
This role is based in Al-Qassim, Saudi Arabia, and falls within Abbott’s Rapid Diagnostic Infectious Disease Division. Our division specializes in delivering rapid diagnostic solutions to hospitals, laboratories, and clinics worldwide. These solutions provide critical insights that drive early and informed patient care decisions for a wide range of health conditions, including infectious diseases, cardiovascular events, blood disorders, and cancers. As a Sales Executive, you will play a pivotal role in expanding the adoption of point-of-care diagnostics (POC) in key markets, with a particular focus on infectious diseases.
Job Purpose and Scope
The primary objective of Abbott Rapid Diagnostics’ Infectious Disease team is to lead market development and drive the adoption of POC diagnostics in core markets. This role requires a strategic approach to facilitate the transition from traditional laboratory-based testing to on-site diagnostics, which demands significant change management for our customers. You will be responsible for promoting Abbott’s comprehensive infectious disease portfolio within your designated territory, leveraging cross-franchise synergies and supporting the launch of new COVID-19-related products.
Core Responsibilities
The Sales Executive holds full accountability for achieving assigned sales targets and driving territory growth. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing strategies to expand the territory by promoting both new and existing products through targeted marketing initiatives, such as product presentations and competitive intelligence.
- Conducting sales calls with a focus on high-potential areas to maximize efficiency and revenue generation.
- Implementing the Go-to-Market strategy in alignment with regional and global objectives, tailoring approaches to meet specific country-level goals.
- Building, nurturing, and expanding strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and target accounts through a consultative selling approach.
- Assessing customer needs and advising on the optimal application of Abbott’s products and services to meet those requirements.
- Collaborating closely with distributor sales teams to develop and implement effective local sales strategies tailored to different customer segments.
- Supporting distribution partners in product sales through training, sales meetings, technical expertise, and marketing assistance.
- Providing accurate forecasts, business reports, and action plans on a timely basis, regularly evaluating performance against targets and budgets.
- Ensuring precise demand planning and forecasting based on customer and distributor commitments.
- Collecting and maintaining up-to-date market intelligence, including competitor activities, pricing trends, and tender opportunities, as well as gathering customer feedback.
- Representing Abbott in a professional manner that aligns with the company’s values and image, ensuring all activities adhere to legal and ethical standards.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- A university degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in additional languages is considered a valuable asset.
- A minimum of two years of experience in healthcare sales, with a preference for roles in diagnostics or point-of-care testing.
- In-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry, particularly within private healthcare providers in the designated territory.
- Prior relationships with key customers in the field are highly advantageous.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant business tools.
