Job Title: Fire Assay Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Assay Laboratory Technician to join our team in Jeddah, South Jeddah, within our Minerals Laboratory. This role reports directly to the Production Manager and requires a minimum of three years of experience in a testing laboratory or equivalent.

• Responsibilities:
• Accurately weigh samples and metal materials, and mix samples with litharge inside extraction cupboards.
• Load prepared samples into crucibles and melt them in furnaces, then pour controlled quantities of molten material into moulds.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised furnace and assay area, and operate and control muffle furnace temperatures.
• Perform cupellation to separate precious metals, clean and prepare lead buttons, and prepare flux mixtures.
• Collect and polish precious-metal beads, weigh gold/silver beads using microbalances, and calculate precious-metal concentrations.
• Ensure quality control by running blanks, duplicates, and standards, and document each step from sample receipt to final reporting.
• Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Science, or Geochem.
• Proficient in laboratory testing procedures and familiar with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
• Acquainted with national and international testing standards and skilled in laboratory tools and equipment.
• Knowledgeable in safety protocols and committed to implementing BV safety programs.
• QHSSE Responsibilities:
• Comply with all applicable legal requirements, BV HSE Policies, procedures, and practices.
• Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard-free, and report any deviations or hazards immediately.
• Report any HSE incidents and cooperate in investigations, and take action whenever an unsafe act or condition is observed.
• Take care of personal health and safety, and that of others who may be affected by actions or inactions.
• Cooperate with others on health and safety and not interfere with or misuse anything provided for personal health, safety, or welfare.
