About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Technical Consultant - SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) - Entitlements to join our Core Tribe and play a pivotal role in shaping the Entitlements layer. In this position, you will be instrumental in building the Entitlements engine, a critical component that will drive the migration of legacy functions and enable the modernisation of ASB’s digital experiences. Your role will be multifaceted, combining hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership to guide teams, make key technical decisions, and deliver solutions that generate real value for our customers.

As a Technical Consultant, you will operate at the intersection of architecture and execution, ensuring that our cloud-based systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. Your responsibilities will span the design, configuration, and maintenance of cloud platform technologies, with a strong emphasis on automation to streamline infrastructure deployments, security remediation, and deployment processes. This role is ideal for a proactive problem solver who thrives in collaborative environments and is passionate about driving technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud and Infrastructure Design: Design and implement cloud environments, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or BICEP to automate and manage deployments in Azure and on-premises environments.
• Automation and CI/CD: Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES), Azure DevOps (ADO), or Octopus, ensuring seamless integration and deployment of applications and infrastructure.
• Security and Monitoring: Automate security remediation and detection processes, create Kibana dashboards and alerts for exception and health monitoring, and develop documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and knowledge base articles.
• Migration and Modernisation: Support the migration and upgrade of SaaS platforms, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum reliability during transitions.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal stakeholders to gather technical requirements, communicate solutions effectively to diverse audiences, and ensure alignment with business outcomes.
• Process Improvement: Continuously refine processes and solutions to enhance scalability, availability, and performance, ensuring our systems meet the evolving needs of our customers and the organisation.

Your Ideal Background

To excel in this role, you will bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will have:

• Technical Proficiency: Experience with NoSQL graph databases (preferably Neo4j), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, BICEP), CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps), and version control systems (Git, TFS).
• Cloud and Security Expertise: A strong understanding of private cloud architecture, enterprise networking, and security principles, with a preference for candidates holding Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-400, AZ-500, and AZ-700.
• Automation and Orchestration: Hands-on experience with automation tools and orchestration processes, including build, release, and configuration management of production systems.
• Agile and DevOps Mindset: A solid grasp of Agile and DevOps frameworks, including the Cloud Adoption Framework, and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to tailor technical details for different audiences and articulate complex problem statements clearly.
