About the Role

Mobco Group is seeking a visionary and highly experienced Technical Director to spearhead the technical and engineering functions for a portfolio of large-scale construction projects in Saudi Arabia. This pivotal leadership role demands an individual with a robust background in Architecture or Civil Engineering, coupled with a proven track record in delivering complex mega projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of project execution, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of design excellence, engineering coordination, regulatory compliance, and seamless project delivery from conceptualization to final handover.

Key Responsibilities

The Technical Director will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of Mobco Group’s projects. Core responsibilities include:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive technical strategies to ensure the successful execution of mega projects, aligning engineering efforts with project objectives and client expectations.
• Multidisciplinary Coordination: Lead and manage the coordination between architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) disciplines, as well as specialist engineering teams, to ensure cohesive and integrated project delivery.
• Technical Oversight: Review and approve engineering designs, technical submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals to guarantee compliance with project specifications, local regulations, international standards, and client requirements.
• Project Lifecycle Management: Provide technical leadership throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial design development through to project completion and handover, ensuring consistency and quality at every stage.
• Value Engineering & Optimization: Drive value engineering initiatives to identify opportunities for design optimization, cost efficiency, and innovative solutions that enhance project performance without compromising quality or safety.
• Risk Mitigation: Address complex technical challenges and engineering issues proactively, minimizing project risks and ensuring robust solutions that safeguard project timelines and budgets.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, project management teams, and construction teams to facilitate seamless communication, alignment, and project delivery.
• Performance Monitoring: Oversee technical performance, construction quality, and engineering compliance across multiple projects, implementing corrective measures where necessary to maintain high standards.
• Tender & Procurement Support: Contribute to tendering processes, technical proposals, procurement evaluations, and contractor selection, ensuring alignment with technical and business objectives.
• Technical Leadership & Development: Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement while promoting professional growth within the organization.
• Executive Reporting: Prepare and present executive technical reports, strategic recommendations, and updates to senior management, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering is mandatory. A Master’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration (MBA) is highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage.
• Professional Credentials: Professional registration or membership with recognized engineering bodies is preferred but not mandatory.
• Mandatory Requirements:
  • Minimum of 25 years of progressive experience in technical leadership roles within the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in delivering mega construction projects, with a proven track record in large-scale developments.
  • Strong expertise in design management, technical coordination, engineering reviews, and construction support.
  • Demonstrated experience in sectors such as hospitality, mixed-use developments, commercial buildings, high-rise structures, infrastructure, or landmark projects.
  • Prior work experience in Saudi Arabia or the broader GCC region is highly advantageous.
