Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team at a leading manufacturer specializing in PVC pipes and aluminum façade systems. This pivotal role is based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and reports directly to the Finance Manager or Financial Controller. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in optimizing production costs, enhancing profitability, and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial analysis and cost control.
Core Responsibilities
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of financial and operational tasks, including:
- Costing & Manufacturing Analysis:
- Develop, maintain, and analyze standard and actual costs for PVC pipes, aluminum profiles, façade systems, and associated accessories.
- Evaluate Bills of Materials (BOMs), production routings, and cost drivers across extrusion, fabrication, coating, and installation processes.
- Conduct comprehensive variance analysis for material, labor, and overhead costs, providing actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Inventory, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and Scrap Management:
- Accurately monitor, value, and reconcile raw materials (including PVC resin, additives, aluminum billets, glass, and accessories), WIP, and finished goods inventories.
- Ensure alignment between inventory records and physical counts, production reports, and ERP data.
- Track and analyze scrap, wastage, rework, yield, and efficiency metrics across extrusion and fabrication lines to drive continuous improvement.
- Budgeting, Forecasting, and Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Support:
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to develop and monitor manufacturing budgets and cost forecasts.
- Perform detailed comparisons between actual and budgeted costs, identifying variances and proposing corrective measures.
- Assist in evaluating CAPEX proposals for machinery, molds, dies, extrusion lines, and fabrication equipment to ensure optimal resource allocation.
- Strategic Reporting and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Prepare and present monthly cost reports, dashboards, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to senior management for informed decision-making.
- Support product pricing strategies, quotation costing, and margin analysis for projects and tenders to enhance competitiveness.
- Provide timely cost insights and recommendations to production, procurement, engineering, and sales teams to foster operational excellence.
- Systems, Controls, and Compliance:
- Maintain and optimize costing modules within the company’s ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle, ERPNext, or similar platforms).
- Ensure adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Value Added Tax (VAT), and internal cost control policies.
- Facilitate internal and external audits, particularly those related to inventory valuation and manufacturing cost accuracy.
Required Skills and Competencies
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing costing principles, particularly within the PVC pipes, aluminum façade, extrusion, and fabrication industries.
- Analytical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with ERP-based costing systems.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable business strategies.
- Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the capacity to work effectively across multiple departments, including production, engineering, procurement, and sales.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to financial reporting, inventory reconciliation, and cost tracking to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Cost Accounting from a recognized institution.
- 3 to 6+ years of progressive experience in cost accounting, preferably within the PVC pipes, aluminum, façade, or related metal/plastics manufacturing sectors.
Preferred Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following attributes will be advantageous:
- Prior work experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region.
- Familiarity with VAT regulations, Zakat and Tax Authority (ZATCA) compliance, and local financial reporting standards.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing KPIs and operational costing methodologies.
