Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and meticulous Application Specialist to join our esteemed team in Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and optimization of healthcare information systems, with a specialized focus on Blood Bank Information Systems (BBIS). Your expertise will be instrumental in aligning these systems with operational requirements to ensure seamless performance, data integrity, and enhanced workflow efficiency across healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities

As an Application Specialist, your core responsibilities will encompass a wide range of technical and collaborative tasks, including:

  • System Analysis and Implementation: Conduct in-depth analysis of business processes and stakeholder requirements to identify system needs and establish clear implementation objectives. Lead the installation, configuration, testing, and deployment of healthcare information systems, including BBIS, to meet clinical and operational demands.
  • System Optimization and Security: Ensure the compatibility, performance, security, and data integrity of healthcare information systems throughout all phases of implementation. Customize software solutions to align with clinical workflows, operational needs, and business requirements.
  • Technical Support and Training: Provide expert technical support, troubleshooting, and end-user training to facilitate successful system adoption and minimize operational disruptions. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and best practices to support ongoing maintenance and future enhancements.
  • Collaboration and Workflow Improvement: Work closely with IT teams, healthcare professionals, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for workflow optimization and system efficiency improvements. Participate actively in data migration, system validation, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure seamless integration and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Project Execution and Post-Implementation Support: Contribute to project planning, execution, and post-go-live activities to ensure the successful deployment and sustained performance of healthcare information systems. Provide ongoing support to address technical challenges and enhance system functionality as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field is required.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in implementing healthcare information systems, such as Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Blood Bank Information Systems (BBIS), or similar platforms.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025) and database management systems, including Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database. Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and data exchange protocols, such as HL7 and ASTM, is essential.
  • System Integration Expertise: Experience integrating healthcare systems with laboratory analyzers, blood bank equipment, and HIS/LIS systems to ensure seamless data flow and operational efficiency.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues, develop effective solutions, and troubleshoot system-related challenges. Strong project management skills and familiarity with implementation methodologies are highly desirable.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and end-users. Proficiency in English is mandatory; additional proficiency in French is preferred, with Arabic as an advantage.
  • Adaptability and Travel: Willingness to travel as required to support project implementations, on-site training, and customer support activities in diverse healthcare settings.

Preferred Competencies

While the above qualifications are essential, candidates with the following competencies will be given preference:

  • Professional proficiency in English and French; Arabic language skills are a valuable asset.
  • Prior experience with Blood Bank Information Systems, particularly the Hematos system, is highly advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and data exchange protocols.
  • Experience working in healthcare environments, including hospitals, blood banks, or laboratory settings, to understand unique operational challenges and requirements.
