Irrigation Engineer - Roads / Highways

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Irrigation Engineer to join our dynamic team at SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering, based in Saudi Arabia. In this critical role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient irrigation systems specifically tailored for roads and highways infrastructure. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in ensuring sustainable water management, erosion control, and environmental compliance for major transportation projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• System Design and Planning: Develop comprehensive irrigation system designs that align with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and environmental standards. Utilize advanced engineering software to create detailed plans for water distribution, drainage, and runoff management.
• Project Execution and Oversight: Lead the implementation of irrigation systems, coordinating with cross-functional teams including civil engineers, landscape architects, and construction personnel. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with safety protocols.
• Technical Analysis and Optimization: Conduct thorough site assessments to evaluate soil conditions, water availability, and environmental impact. Optimize irrigation strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce water waste, and promote long-term sustainability.
• Regulatory Compliance and Documentation: Prepare and submit technical reports, permits, and compliance documentation to regulatory authorities. Stay abreast of local and international standards to ensure all projects meet or exceed environmental and safety regulations.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a liaison between SNC-Lavalin Fayez Engineering and clients, government agencies, and subcontractors. Facilitate clear communication to address technical challenges, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Research and recommend cutting-edge irrigation technologies and methodologies to enhance project outcomes. Contribute to the development of best practices within the team and the broader industry.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field, with a specialization in irrigation or water resource management. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in irrigation system design and implementation, preferably within the infrastructure or transportation sector, is required. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools is essential. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment are critical.

Candidates should demonstrate a deep understanding of hydrology, soil science, and environmental regulations. Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Arabic is a plus. Professional certifications in irrigation engineering or related disciplines, such as a Certified Irrigation Designer (CID) credential, will be highly advantageous.
