Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Platform Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure platforms. In this critical role, you will ensure the reliability, availability, and disaster recovery of our business-critical applications and services, enabling seamless operations and driving innovation across our financial solutions. Your expertise will be pivotal in supporting Abdul Latif Jameel United Finance Company’s mission to deliver exceptional financial services while maintaining the highest standards of security and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

The Platform Engineer will play a central role in shaping and maintaining our IT infrastructure. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Infrastructure & Platform Management: Provision and manage servers, storage, networking, and cloud environments to meet evolving business demands. Ensure seamless deployment readiness by understanding data center requirements and aligning infrastructure specifications with business objectives.
• Installation & Configuration: Develop and execute meticulous installation and configuration plans for servers and platform components. Conduct OS installation, patching, and software configuration in adherence to industry best practices, while validating installation checklists and acceptance testing to ensure flawless execution.
• Monitoring & Performance Optimization: Proactively monitor infrastructure performance to guarantee availability, reliability, and optimal capacity planning. Analyze performance reports to identify trends, recommend strategic upgrades, and implement performance tuning to enhance system efficiency.
• Security & Compliance: Uphold stringent security standards by implementing access controls, system hardening, and vulnerability management protocols. Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and audit mandates, while actively participating in data center and infrastructure security initiatives.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Design and maintain robust data backup solutions and disaster recovery processes to safeguard critical information. Validate data integrity, conduct backup tests, and ensure seamless recovery readiness to minimize operational disruptions.
• Automation & Efficiency: Develop and deploy automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline deployment, monitoring, and operational tasks. Drive continuous improvement by reducing manual intervention and enhancing system reliability through intelligent automation.
• Operations & Support: Provide expert-level support for infrastructure systems, troubleshoot incidents, and lead root cause analysis to implement preventive measures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical challenges and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain precise and up-to-date documentation of infrastructure configurations, changes, and operational procedures. Prepare comprehensive reports on system performance, incident trends, and capacity utilization, while ensuring full compliance with change management and audit requirements.

Technical Competencies

To excel in this role, you must possess the following technical skills and experience:

• Proven expertise in Windows and Linux Server Administration with a deep understanding of system architecture and configuration.
• Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V, including resource management and optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Azure and AWS, to design and manage scalable, cost-effective solutions.
• Strong knowledge of storage systems and backup solutions, including SAN, NAS, and enterprise-grade backup software.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and firewall configurations.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as SCOM, SolarWinds, or similar platforms to proactively identify and resolve performance issues.
• Comprehensive knowledge of disaster recovery and high availability strategies to ensure business continuity in the event of system failures.
