Position Overview

As the strategic financial leader for the property, this role is pivotal in driving financial excellence and operational success. The Director of Finance & Accounting will spearhead the development and execution of property-wide financial strategies that align with the brand’s objectives, ensuring the delivery of superior products and services to meet the expectations of both target customers and internal stakeholders. This position is responsible for providing expert financial guidance to support the implementation of brand initiatives while maximizing return on investment. Additionally, the Director will craft and oversee a comprehensive business plan that integrates seamlessly with the property’s and brand’s strategic vision, focusing on robust financial and accounting operations to achieve desirable financial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Financial Leadership:
  • Champion and implement financial strategies that enhance profitability by evaluating cost-benefit analyses, exploring new business opportunities, and identifying revenue growth potential.
  • Develop and monitor annual budgets, comparing actual performance against projections to ensure financial efficiency and accountability.
  • Analyze financial data and market trends to provide actionable insights that drive informed decision-making.
  • Create and execute a comprehensive annual business plan that aligns with the company’s and brand’s strategic direction, ensuring operational and financial alignment.
  • Implement robust internal controls to manage business risks, safeguard assets, and optimize operational performance and profitability.
• Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the finance and accounting team by fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and high performance.
  • Communicate strategic goals, priorities, and owner expectations clearly and effectively to subordinates and cross-functional teams.
  • Leverage strong leadership and communication skills to influence executive decisions and align the property’s financial strategies with broader organizational goals.
  • Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals for direct reports, providing constructive feedback and fostering professional growth.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and executive committee, offering insights on financial and operational challenges and opportunities.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including property owners, corporate leadership, and guests, to understand and address their financial priorities and expectations.
  • Translate complex financial concepts into clear, persuasive, and actionable insights that drive desired behaviors and outcomes across the organization.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of cash flow management and align financial strategies with owner priorities to ensure sustainable growth.
• Operational & Financial Oversight:
  • Monitor and analyze actual financial performance against budgeted projections, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Provide ongoing analytical support to operational departments, enabling proactive responses to changes in business conditions.
  • Develop and maintain financial systems and processes that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a strong blend of financial expertise, leadership acumen, and strategic thinking. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a 4-year bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, coupled with at least two years of relevant professional experience in finance and accounting. Alternatively, a master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline may be considered in lieu of work experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, and team leadership, along with exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in financial software and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism are essential.
