Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer for Field Services to oversee the installation, maintenance, and technical support of medium voltage motors, generators, and associated systems. This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in electrical engineering and hands-on field experience to ensure seamless operations, troubleshooting, and upgrades at customer sites. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety while providing exceptional service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
The Lead Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of technical and operational duties, including:
- Installation and Commissioning: Perform on-site installation, commissioning, refurbishment, startup, and upgrades of medium voltage synchronous and induction motors, generators, excitation systems, automatic voltage regulators (AVR), and medium voltage variable speed drive systems.
- Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Conduct routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs to ensure optimal performance and reliability of rotating equipment and drive systems.
- Technical Support and Training: Provide expert technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives on installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance procedures. Ensure customers are fully trained to operate and maintain equipment safely and efficiently.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, job status updates, customer reports, time sheets, and expense sheets in a timely and thorough manner. Maintain accurate records for future reference and compliance.
- Leadership and Supervision: Provide technical direction and leadership to skilled labor teams performing work at customer sites. Ensure adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Safety and Compliance: Uphold a strong safety mindset, ensuring all work aligns with GE safety standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate potential hazards.
- Project Management: Oversee project execution, including material ordering, securing quotations, and coordinating logistics to ensure seamless project delivery.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university, with a preference for Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of field service experience with medium voltage motors, generators, excitation systems, and commissioning of rotating equipment.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience in electrical testing and commissioning of electrical rotating machines and drive systems.
- Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time, as required by the role.
