Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Operations Center Operator to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing operational activities to ensure the seamless functioning of our systems. Your expertise will contribute to the development of shift operation schedules, monitoring pipeline capacities, conducting gap analyses, and consolidating operational reports. This position plays a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with industry regulations, driving continuous improvement, and supporting strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The Operations Center Operator will perform a wide range of duties to support operational excellence, including:

• Shift Operation Management: Develop and execute daily shift operation schedules based on demand forecasts, system capacity, shutdown schedules, water supply quantities, and maintenance-related interruptions to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
• Capacity and Performance Analysis: Conduct capacity gap analyses to identify skill requirements and allocate internal teams or external resources effectively, ensuring optimal transmission system performance.
• Problem Escalation and Resolution: Address and escalate operational issues promptly to ensure timely resolution, minimizing disruptions and maintaining system integrity.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards, including Health, Safety, Security, Environment (HSSE), Risk Management, and Cybersecurity protocols, to uphold operational integrity and employee safety.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Facilitate seamless communication and coordination between the Central Control Room (CCR) and Local Control Rooms (LCR) to align operations with established plans, standards, and requirements.
• Reporting and Documentation: Consolidate and analyze operational, accident, and shutdown reports to assess schedule efficiency, performance variances, and system reliability. Contribute to the development of corrective action plans and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
• System Performance Monitoring: Evaluate the performance of critical systems, including water quality, cooling systems, and pump oil systems, to identify gaps in efficiency and quality levels, recommending corrective measures as needed.
• Forecasting and Planning Support: Compare current consumption data with forecasted figures, issue performance insights, and contribute to the development of next-year water forecasts to support strategic planning.
• Infrastructure Development: Assist in the planning and design of rehabilitation and replacement initiatives for transmission system equipment to enhance reliability and operational efficiency.
• Issue Resolution: Address complex operational challenges escalated from the CCR or LCR, providing timely and effective solutions without compromising ongoing activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Diploma’s Degree in a technical field or a relevant discipline, demonstrating a strong foundation in operational principles and practices.
• Proven experience in operations management, preferably within a control center or similar environment, with a track record of driving efficiency and compliance.
• Strong analytical skills to assess operational data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights for continuous improvement.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities to address complex operational issues and implement effective solutions under pressure.
• Proficiency in regulatory compliance and safety protocols, with a commitment to maintaining high standards of operational integrity.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for cost optimization, productivity enhancement, and system improvements.
