Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of our dental clinic while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and infection control. The ideal candidate will possess a valid SCFHS registration and classification as a Dental Assistant, along with at least one year of hands-on experience in a dental setting. Your expertise in infection prevention, sterilization protocols, and clinic preparation will be instrumental in supporting our dental professionals across various specialties.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Support: Assist licensed dentists and dental hygienists during procedures, ensuring optimal patient comfort and procedural efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain a sterile environment in compliance with infection control guidelines.
- Infection Prevention & Control: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of sterilization techniques, including the operation of autoclaves and other CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department) equipment. Adhere to strict protocols to minimize cross-contamination and uphold patient safety.
- Specialty Assistance: Provide support across multiple dental specialties, such as general dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics, or oral surgery. Adapt to the unique requirements of each specialty while maintaining precision and attention to detail.
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain procedures, and address inquiries with professionalism and empathy. Ensure patients feel informed and at ease throughout their visit, fostering a positive experience.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain organized and well-stocked dental clinics, anticipating supply needs and coordinating with the team to ensure seamless workflows. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance clinic efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Regulatory Compliance: Uphold all local and international standards for dental practice, including SCFHS regulations, to ensure the clinic operates within legal and ethical boundaries.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certification & Experience: Valid SCFHS registration and classification as a Dental Assistant with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in a clinical setting.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of infection prevention, sterilization procedures, and CSSD operations (experience in CSSD is a plus).
- Communication & Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with dental professionals and administrative staff. A patient-centered approach is essential.
- Attention to Detail: Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of patient care, from procedural assistance to clinic hygiene.
