Program Overview

Vertex GCC is proud to announce a distinctive summer training program designed for ambitious students eager to immerse themselves in the fields of patient engagement, health education, and healthcare communications. The International Patient Engagement (IPE) team plays a pivotal role in integrating the patient perspective into Vertex’s operations by fostering meaningful collaborations with patient communities at both local and global levels. This team operates across the entire lifecycle of Vertex’s therapies, from early research to post-marketing stages, ensuring that patient insights drive critical decisions throughout the process.

As a trainee within the IPE team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development, localization, and enhancement of Arabic patient education materials. This role offers invaluable exposure to patient advocacy, digital content creation, health literacy, and cross-functional collaboration within a regulated biotechnology environment. The program is structured to provide hands-on experience while fostering professional growth in a dynamic and supportive setting.

Key Learning Objectives

Throughout the duration of the training program, the trainee will:

• Gain practical experience in patient engagement, health literacy, and patient-centered communication strategies.
• Support the development, localization, and review of Arabic patient education materials to ensure accessibility and relevance for diverse patient populations.
• Contribute to the creation of digital and creative educational assets in collaboration with internal teams and external agencies.
• Develop project coordination, research, and stakeholder collaboration skills through active participation in team initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The trainee will be responsible for the following tasks:

Patient Education Material Development

• Assist in the development, localization, and review of Arabic patient education materials to ensure clarity, cultural appropriateness, and alignment with Vertex’s standards.
• Conduct thorough research on disease awareness, patient education needs, and public health topics to inform content development.
• Maintain organized content libraries and documentation to streamline access and updates for internal and external stakeholders.

Digital & Creative Content Support

• Collaborate on the creation of patient-facing digital content, including awareness materials, presentations, and visual assets.
• Coordinate with external agencies and internal teams to ensure that all materials meet Vertex’s quality and compliance standards.
• Contribute innovative ideas for developing clear, engaging, and effective patient education formats that enhance health literacy.

Patient Insights & Advocacy

• Participate in meetings with patient organizations, agencies, and internal stakeholders to gather insights and feedback.
• Support the collection and analysis of patient insights to identify opportunities for improving patient communication and education.
• Stay informed about best practices in patient engagement and health literacy to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Operational Support

• Assist with project tracking, managing timelines, and preparing presentations to support the IPE team’s initiatives.
• Maintain organized documentation and version control for educational materials to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Engage in internal and cross-functional discussions to support the alignment of patient engagement strategies with Vertex’s broader goals.

Qualifications Required

To be considered for this program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student or a recent graduate in Pharmacy, PharmD, Public Health, Health Education, or a related field.
• Eligible to complete a summer training program in Saudi Arabia and available to work on-site or in a hybrid capacity in Riyadh.
• Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication in both Arabic and English.
• A strong interest in patient education, patient advocacy, public health, and the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
