Position Overview
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Equipment Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechatronics, automation, or a related engineering discipline, with a focus on supporting and enhancing automotive stamping equipment. This role serves as a critical bridge between Maintenance and Process Engineering teams, ensuring seamless collaboration to drive operational excellence. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead initiatives that optimize equipment performance, enhance reliability, and foster continuous improvement through the application of lean manufacturing strategies and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Optimization: Analyze and improve the performance of automotive stamping equipment, including presses, transfer systems, and feeders, to maximize efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance overall productivity.
- Reliability Enhancement: Implement proactive maintenance strategies and reliability-centered initiatives to minimize equipment failures and extend the lifespan of critical machinery.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in lean manufacturing projects, applying methodologies such as Kaizen, SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die), and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) to streamline processes and eliminate waste.
- Technical Support: Provide expert troubleshooting and technical guidance to Maintenance and Process Engineering teams, ensuring rapid resolution of equipment-related issues and adherence to best practices.
- Project Leadership: Oversee and execute equipment improvement projects, from initial assessment to implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Production, to identify opportunities for innovation and operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on stamping processes and equipment.
- Proven expertise in Siemens PLC programming and configuration, including Step7 and TIA Portal environments.
- Strong working knowledge of WinCC HMI/SCADA systems for monitoring and controlling industrial processes.
- Solid foundation in electronics, electrical systems, and industrial control systems, with the ability to design, analyze, and troubleshoot complex circuits and components.
- Experience with motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, and related electrical and mechanical components.
- Comprehensive understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, including their integration and operation within industrial environments.
- Ability to interpret and create electrical, mechanical, and control schematics to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Familiarity with KUKA robots, including operation, programming, or troubleshooting, to enhance automation and robotic integration within stamping processes.
- Proficiency in applying lean manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, SMED, and TPM to drive efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven track record of leading equipment improvement or optimization projects, with a focus on measurable results and sustainability.
