Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role will be based at Aljamal, a leading entity under the esteemed Chalhoub Group. The ideal candidate will play a critical part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving strategic financial initiatives to support the organization’s growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare, review, and present accurate financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements. Ensure timely and compliant submission of financial reports to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- General Ledger Management: Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and reconciled promptly. Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with senior management to develop, monitor, and analyze annual budgets and financial forecasts. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize resource allocation and improve financial performance.
- Tax Compliance & Planning: Ensure adherence to local tax laws and regulations, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Zakat, and income tax. Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time, while identifying opportunities for tax efficiency and compliance optimization.
- Audit & Assurance: Coordinate with external auditors during annual financial audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings proactively. Support internal audit initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and risk management.
- Strategic Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement. Present actionable insights to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making.
- Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Delegate tasks effectively to ensure timely completion of financial deliverables.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a trusted financial advisor to cross-functional teams, including procurement, operations, and human resources. Facilitate clear communication between departments to align financial goals with business objectives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Profound knowledge of IFRS, local tax regulations, and financial reporting standards in Saudi Arabia.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and analysis.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and present insights in a clear, concise manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management, mentoring, and strategic thinking.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
