Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Linux Administrator at DXC Technology, your core responsibilities will include:

• System Administration & Maintenance: Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers, ensuring high availability, scalability, and optimal performance. Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime.
• Security & Compliance: Enforce robust security policies, manage user access controls, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and implement security patches to mitigate risks.
• Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure: Lead the integration and management of Linux-based systems within hybrid cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms. Optimize cloud resources, automate deployments, and ensure seamless interoperability between on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.) to streamline repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce manual intervention. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to enhance deployment consistency and reliability.
• Collaboration & Support: Work closely with development, networking, and security teams to align Linux infrastructure with business objectives. Provide expert-level support to internal stakeholders, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor junior team members to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze system performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to enhance efficiency. Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus) to proactively detect and resolve performance-related challenges.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and expertise:

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a Linux Administrator, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Linux distributions (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and enterprise-grade tools for system administration, monitoring, and automation. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is highly desirable.
• Scripting & Automation: Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl, along with experience using configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Security & Compliance: Familiarity with security best practices, including SELinux, firewalls, encryption, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Leadership qualities to guide teams and drive technical initiatives are essential.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), or AWS/Azure certifications are a plus.
