Key Responsibilities
As a Cluster Assistant Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of procurement activities designed to optimize purchasing processes and enhance operational excellence. Your core duties will include:
- Procurement Support: Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing strategies to meet the financial and operational goals of the hotel cluster. This includes sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
- Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and service levels. Monitor supplier performance and address any issues that may arise to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Cost Control: Collaborate with finance and operational teams to analyze spending patterns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to reduce expenses without compromising quality.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to Marriott’s corporate policies, local regulations, and ethical standards. Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits and compliance reviews.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with department heads, such as F&B, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Rooms Division, to understand their procurement needs and align purchasing activities with their operational requirements.
- Inventory Management: Support inventory control processes, including tracking stock levels, forecasting demand, and coordinating with warehouses to prevent shortages or excesses.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and cost variances. Present insights to senior management to inform strategic decision-making.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field. Relevant certifications in procurement or supply chain management are a plus.
- At least 3-5 years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably within the hospitality or service industry.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms and pricing from suppliers.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize procurement processes.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Fluency in English and Arabic, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
