Key Responsibilities

As a Cyber Security Specialist, your core responsibilities will include:

• Incident Investigation and Response: Monitor security alerts and conduct thorough investigations into cybersecurity incidents to determine their scope, impact, and root causes. Perform incident triage to assess severity and prioritize remediation efforts effectively.
• Digital Forensics and Evidence Collection: Conduct forensic evidence collection in strict adherence to industry standards and legal requirements. Analyze logs from diverse sources to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
• Threat Analysis and Mitigation: Support incident response activities by performing threat analysis, intrusion investigations, and system remediation. Correlate security events to uncover attack patterns and vulnerabilities, enabling proactive mitigation strategies.
• Security Monitoring and Intelligence: Track cybersecurity incidents from initial detection through resolution, ensuring comprehensive documentation and reporting. Monitor external threat intelligence sources to stay ahead of emerging cyber risks and collaborate with threat intelligence teams to assess indicators of compromise.
• Security Control Implementation: Apply defense-in-depth principles and cybersecurity best practices to strengthen our security framework. Assist in identifying security gaps and recommending effective mitigation strategies to enhance our overall security posture.
• Cloud Security and Stakeholder Collaboration: Support cloud security incident response activities and coordinate with internal stakeholders and technology vendors to drive cybersecurity initiatives. Ensure seamless integration of security measures across all platforms and environments.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed incident reports, security recommendations, and post-incident documentation to facilitate continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A minimum of one year of hands-on experience in Cybersecurity, Security Operations (SOC), Incident Response, or Information Security is essential.
• Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, security controls, and network security concepts is critical. Familiarity with incident response and digital forensic processes, as well as SIEM platforms, endpoint security, and security monitoring tools, is highly preferred. Knowledge of cloud security concepts will be an added advantage.
• Certifications: Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CEH, GSEC, or equivalent are preferred and will be considered a significant asset.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a high attention to detail, are vital for identifying and addressing security threats. Strong communication and documentation skills are necessary to convey complex technical information clearly. The ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively under pressure, along with a collaborative mindset, will ensure seamless teamwork and successful project outcomes.
