IT Project Manager (Interim) – East London / Hybrid

An esteemed Local Authority in East London is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of critical technology initiatives as outlined in the Technology Roadmap. This high-impact role will focus on the implementation and optimisation of Modern Workplace technologies, including Microsoft 365, Identity Management, Endpoint Management, and SharePoint Online. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, exceptional project management expertise, and a proven track record in driving transformative IT projects within the public sector.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of Modern Workplace projects, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and best practices. Core duties include:

• Project Leadership: Manage the full lifecycle of Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace projects, from initial planning and scoping through to implementation and post-deployment review.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, business units, and external vendors, to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with stakeholder expectations.
• Project Governance: Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including budgets, timelines, risk registers, and dependency matrices. Provide regular governance reporting to senior leadership and relevant boards to ensure transparency and accountability.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure all project activities adhere to organisational governance frameworks, architectural standards, and Microsoft 365 best practices to maintain security, efficiency, and scalability.
• Change Management: Facilitate user adoption and organisational change through structured communication strategies, training initiatives, and support mechanisms to ensure a smooth transition into new service models.
• Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and address escalations, providing data-driven recommendations to resolve complex delivery challenges and mitigate project risks.

Essential Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:

• Proven IT Project Management Expertise: A minimum of three years of hands-on experience managing IT projects, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace technologies.
• Stakeholder & Governance Acumen: Exceptional ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, manage expectations, and maintain robust governance structures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Identity Management, and Endpoint Management technologies, with a commitment to staying current with industry advancements.
• Strategic Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, coupled with strong planning, risk assessment, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Public Sector Experience (Desirable): Prior experience within Local Government or the broader Public Sector is advantageous, though not mandatory for exceptional candidates.

Terms & Application

This is a contract/interim position based in East London, with hybrid working arrangements available. The successful candidate will be engaged on a £500 per day umbrella rate, reflecting the seniority and expertise required for this pivotal role. The position is available for an initial term, with potential for extension based on performance and project requirements.
