Key Responsibilities

• Process Safety Studies Leadership: Lead and facilitate critical process safety studies, including HAZID (Hazard Identification), HAZOP (Hazard and Operability), SIL (Safety Integrity Level) assessments, and LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis). This involves defining study scopes, selecting appropriate nodes, documenting findings, and ensuring timely closure of action items to mitigate risks effectively.
• Integration of Process Safety in Project Phases: Embed process safety principles across all project phases, including Project Development Phase (PDP), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and Detailed Engineering Phase (DEP). Apply inherently safer design principles and adhere to the safeguarding hierarchy to minimize risks from the outset of any project.
• Technical Reviews and Compliance: Conduct thorough reviews of relief, flare, and overpressure systems, as well as hazardous area classifications, in strict accordance with API 521 standards and other international regulatory frameworks. Develop and validate Process Safety Design Philosophies to ensure robust protection layers, including instrumented, procedural, and mechanical safeguards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration of process safety measures. Coordinate reviews of licensor and vendor deliverables to guarantee alignment with safety and engineering standards.
• Regulatory and Standard Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all applicable engineering standards, regulations, and corporate policies. Stay abreast of emerging industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to proactively enhance safety protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Certifications: Formal training or certification in Process Safety (e.g., TÜV, CCPS, or equivalent) is highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in process safety within oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, or chemical processing environments. Demonstrated expertise in delivering projects across PDP, FEED, and DEP phases is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of process safety methodologies, risk assessment tools, and industry standards. Familiarity with international codes such as API, IEC, and OSHA is preferred.
• Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
