Senior Accountant – Contracting & Fit-Out Industry

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team at Euro Systems, based in Riyadh. This pivotal role is tailored for a finance professional with a strong background in the contracting and fit-out industry, where precision, strategic financial management, and industry-specific expertise are paramount. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving financial efficiency within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a broad spectrum of financial duties, including but not limited to:

• Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements. Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with senior management to develop, monitor, and analyze budgets and financial forecasts. Provide insightful recommendations to optimize resource allocation and improve financial performance.
• Cost Control & Analysis: Oversee cost accounting processes, including job costing, variance analysis, and profitability assessments specific to the contracting and fit-out sector. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
• Tax Planning & Compliance: Manage tax filings, including VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory obligations. Stay abreast of evolving tax regulations and implement proactive tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities and ensure compliance.
• Internal Controls & Audit Support: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data. Assist internal and external auditors during periodic audits, providing comprehensive documentation and addressing audit findings promptly.
• Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow trends, optimize working capital, and ensure sufficient liquidity to support ongoing operations and growth initiatives. Develop strategies to improve cash flow forecasting accuracy.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a trusted financial advisor to cross-functional teams, including project managers, procurement, and operations. Provide financial insights to support decision-making and strategic planning across the organization.
• System & Process Improvement: Evaluate and enhance financial systems, processes, and technologies to streamline operations, improve accuracy, and support scalability. Recommend and implement best practices in financial management.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior accounting or financial management role within the contracting, construction, or fit-out industry. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) is essential.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software, advanced Excel skills, and a strong understanding of IFRS and local tax regulations. Experience with job costing and project accounting is a significant advantage.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and lead initiatives with minimal supervision. Strong leadership qualities with the capacity to mentor junior team members.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the unique financial challenges and operational dynamics of the contracting and fit-out sector, including contract accounting, progress billing, and revenue recognition under IFRS 15.
