Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanical Technician – Maintenance to join our dynamic team in Jubail, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA Pool – Based in UAE). The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing a diverse range of mechanical installation, repair, and maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal performance of machinery, equipment, and fixtures. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement while minimizing production downtime. The position requires technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to maintain plant operations at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Technician – Maintenance will play a critical role in sustaining the reliability and efficiency of our industrial assets. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Equipment Maintenance & Breakdown Resolution: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical equipment breakdowns promptly to minimize production interruptions. Execute planned, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities with minimal supervision, adhering to strict time constraints.
- Technical Assessment & Tool Selection: Evaluate maintenance requirements for assigned tasks, selecting appropriate tools and equipment to ensure accurate and efficient completion of work.
- Safety & Compliance: Perform all maintenance activities in strict accordance with established safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and plant operational standards to mitigate risks and ensure a secure workplace.
- Spare Parts Management: Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (SAP) to procure spare parts from the warehouse, maintain comprehensive records of completed maintenance work, and track inventory levels.
- Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement: Monitor recurring equipment failures, identify underlying causes, and recommend or implement modifications to prevent future breakdowns. Report abnormalities and initiate necessary repairs, replacements, or component overhauls.
- Welding & Fabrication Support: Conduct welding and fabrication tasks as required to support maintenance operations and equipment modifications.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer: Guide and train newly joined mechanics, equipping them with essential plant and equipment knowledge to enhance their performance and independence.
- EHS & Performance Enhancement: Actively participate in Best Experience (BE) initiatives, including the Suggestion Scheme, 5S, Hazard Reporting, TAMAHAL/PEER, and other programs aimed at improving Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and plant equipment performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Assist other departments in equipment repair and troubleshooting to ensure seamless operational continuity across the facility.
Data Management & Reporting:
Input accurate data into maintenance management systems, including work logs and manning records, to support data-driven decision-making and compliance reporting.- Shift Duties & Team Collaboration: Fulfill assigned day or shift duties in collaboration with a team of technicians, craftsmen, and contractors, reporting directly to the Supervisor as required.
- Preventive Maintenance Execution: Conduct daily preventive maintenance (PM), running inspections, and complete checklists in alignment with maintenance planning requirements to proactively address potential issues.
- Adaptability & Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as communicated by the supervisor or technician to support ongoing operational objectives.
Qualifications & Competencies
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the required skills:
- Educational Background: A Diploma in a relevant mechanical or technical field. Completion of PEC Craft Training is an added advantage.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a heavy industry environment following the completion of a Diploma. Alternatively, candidates with PEC Training certification may be considered without prior experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in the use of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Strong computer literacy with the ability to navigate maintenance management systems such as SAP.
- Experience in equipment installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical instructions accurately.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in written and spoken English to ensure effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Strong teamwork and mentorship skills are essential for collaborating with colleagues and training junior staff.
