Lead Engineer, OT Cybersecurity - RAK II

Position Overview

Ma’aden is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer for OT Cybersecurity to join our dynamic team in Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role will be based in Ma’aden and will focus on safeguarding our operational technology (OT) infrastructure, ensuring the resilience and security of critical industrial systems. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust cybersecurity measures tailored to our operational environments. Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Provide expert guidance and leadership in OT cybersecurity, aligning strategies with Ma’aden’s operational goals and industry best practices. Develop and execute comprehensive cybersecurity plans to protect OT assets from evolving threats.
• Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security gaps within OT environments. Implement proactive measures to mitigate risks and enhance the overall security posture of industrial control systems (ICS), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and other critical infrastructure.
• Policy Development: Establish and enforce OT cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with international frameworks such as IEC 62443, NIST, and ISO 27001. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks.
• Incident Response: Lead the development and implementation of incident response plans for OT cybersecurity breaches. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to investigate security incidents, contain threats, and restore operations efficiently while minimizing downtime.
• Collaboration and Training: Foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness across the organization by providing training and educational programs for employees and stakeholders. Collaborate with IT and OT teams to ensure seamless integration of cybersecurity practices into operational workflows.
• Technical Oversight: Oversee the deployment and maintenance of security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, and network segmentation solutions. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to enhance OT security.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between Ma’aden’s leadership, OT teams, and external cybersecurity partners. Represent the organization in industry forums, conferences, and regulatory discussions to stay abreast of emerging threats and trends.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of progressive experience in OT cybersecurity, with a proven track record in industrial environments such as oil and gas, mining, or manufacturing. Strong knowledge of OT protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, Profibus) and cybersecurity frameworks is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
