Heavy Trucks Maintenance Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Heavy Trucks Maintenance Engineer to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our heavy truck fleet and associated equipment. Your expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems will be instrumental in diagnosing faults, supervising maintenance activities, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of hands-on experience in heavy truck or heavy equipment maintenance, coupled with a proven track record in supervising maintenance teams and managing workshop operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspection and Diagnostics: Conduct thorough inspections of heavy trucks and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults. Utilize advanced diagnostic techniques to determine root causes of failures and recommend appropriate repair methods.
• Supervision and Technical Guidance: Assign and supervise maintenance and repair tasks for technicians, providing clear instructions and technical support throughout the repair process. Ensure adherence to manufacturer specifications and company maintenance procedures.
• Work Order Management: Monitor and manage maintenance work orders through the CMMS/ERP system, ensuring timely completion, accurate documentation, and compliance with established standards.
• Quality Assurance: Perform final inspections and functional tests to verify the quality of completed repairs. Implement measures to minimize repeat failures and rework, thereby enhancing fleet reliability.
• Parts and Materials Coordination: Collaborate with the Parts/Warehouse team to ensure the timely availability of required spare parts and materials, optimizing workshop efficiency.
• Failure Analysis and Corrective Actions: Analyze recurring equipment failures and develop corrective and preventive actions to improve long-term reliability and performance.
• Preventive and Predictive Maintenance: Support and enhance preventive and predictive maintenance programs to proactively address potential issues and extend equipment lifespan.
• Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate maintenance records and prepare detailed technical reports to support data-driven decision-making and compliance requirements.
• Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and workshop safety procedures to foster a secure and compliant work environment.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve fleet performance.
• Team Development: Train, coach, and evaluate technicians to elevate their technical skills, work quality, and overall productivity.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in heavy truck or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Proven experience in supervising maintenance technicians and managing workshop activities.
• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS/ERP).
