Key Responsibilities

Managerial and Administrative Duties

The General Practitioner will play a critical role in supporting and implementing the hospital’s strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures. This includes ensuring meticulous documentation in patient medical records to accurately reflect diagnoses, treatments, and care plans. The role requires adherence to best practices in clinical documentation to facilitate optimal patient billing and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.

Clinical and Technical Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide comprehensive medical management for inpatients and outpatients, adhering to evidence-based medicine practices. Conduct thorough examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop individualized treatment plans to address general health concerns.
• Diagnostic and Treatment Services: Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, including x-rays and laboratory analyses, to determine medical conditions and formulate accurate diagnoses. Prescribe appropriate treatments, including medications, antibiotics, and therapeutic measures, while ensuring patient understanding of procedures and results.
• Preoperative and Postoperative Care: Direct nursing staff in preoperative and postoperative care protocols, such as administering sedatives, prescribing diets, and preparing patients for surgical interventions. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal recovery.
• Patient Communication: Clearly explain medical procedures, test results, and treatment options to patients and their families, fostering trust and ensuring informed decision-making. Maintain open and transparent communication to address patient concerns and promote adherence to treatment plans.
• On-Call Duty: Provide on-call medical services outside of regular working hours to ensure continuous patient care and emergency response capabilities.

Quality and Safety Initiatives

The General Practitioner will actively contribute to quality improvement efforts within the department by facilitating cross-functional communication, participating in regular audits, and utilizing audit findings to enhance clinical practices. The role involves supporting the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents to maintain a safe and high-quality care environment.
